Primary · Years 1–6 · Ages 5–11

Laying the foundations

Primary is the laying of foundations. You do not see the foundation of a house, but everything above it depends on it being level, solid, and true. This stage closes with Cambridge Primary Checkpoint — sat at the end of Year 6 — which tells you, in specific terms, where that foundation is strong and where it needs reinforcing.

What It Does

The goal is not to fill a bucket but to light a fire

Primary builds the core skills of reading, writing, and mathematical reasoning, alongside an early introduction to science, history, geography, and the arts.

The emphasis is on curiosity and confidence. Children learn to ask questions, to explain their thinking, and to try again when something does not work the first time. This is the stage where a child's relationship with learning is formed — whether they see it as something done to them, or something they do.

What to Expect From Us

The structure behind the learning

Live lessons

Interactive, not passive. Children are asked to speak, solve, and explain — not just listen. Recordings available if a session is missed.

Access to materials

Recorded sessions, worksheets, reading lists, and practice activities. Nothing is lost if a lesson is missed, and nothing is capped if a child wants to go further.

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint

At the end of Year 6, a diagnostic assessment marked by Cambridge examiners. It tells you, in specific terms, where your child is strong and where they need support.

On Checkpoint

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint is not a pass/fail exam. It is a mirror. It is marked externally, and the report returns a detailed diagnostic of strengths and gaps. It does not determine whether a child moves on — it tells you, the parent, what to celebrate and what to work on before the next stage.

The Milestone

Checkpoint: a diagnostic not a verdict

At the end of Year 6, children sit Cambridge Primary Checkpoint. Here is exactly what it is and what it is not.

What it is

  • Externally marked by Cambridge
  • A diagnostic of strengths and gaps
  • An international benchmark, not a class ranking
  • A conversation starter for the next stage

! What it is not

  • A pass/fail exam
  • A gate to the next stage
  • A prediction of future success
  • A substitute for a parent-teacher conversation
